Mehbooba Mufti points collaboration with BJP

Daughter of late J&K CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Mehbooba Mufti has hinted that PDP would be ready to form J&K government with BJP, basis her father’s dreams are being fulfilled completely. She also stated that the decision would be in the interest of the country and an effective initiative to make J&K a bridge between India and Pakistan.

SC to hear Delhi govt’s petition on water supply today

The Supreme Court is ready for an urgent hearing to the petition moved by Delhi government seeking Centre’s intervention for the uninterrupted supply of water from the Munak Canal in Haryana. Amid agitations from Jat, Delhi government’s senior standing counsel Rahul Mehra stated that the petition was mentioned before the Registrar on Sunday. The Registrar had then marked the matter for hearing the next day.

Nepal PM on an Historic India Tour says No Difference between the two Countries

After prolonged tension between India and Nepal over road blockade by madheshis along Indo-Nepal border, Nepal Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli’s India tour seems to be sweetening with India pledging $250 million for restructuring earthquake plagued Nepal (that caused 9,000 death in 2015 in the Himalayan country). PM Modi asked his Nepalese counterpart to adopt an all-inclusive constitution amicably. 9 agreements have been signed by the two countries. Nepalese PM Oli said that “misunderstanding” between India and Nepal no longer exists.

SpiceJet announces pre-summer sale from today

India’s budget carrier SpiceJet has announced a three-day sale on all domestic flights. The discounted tickets are available at a base fare of Rs. 599 which is applicable on tickets booked from 23 February to 25 February. This SpiceJet Pre-Summer Sale is available for travel between 1 March and 13 April with the tickets being refundable barring taxes.

BSE Sensex skids by over 100 points

Today, the BSE Sensex fell over 100 points with Nifty hovering around the level of 7,200 during the morning deals. FMCG, power, banking, IT and capital goods indices have quoted 0.2-0.7 per cent lower with the Nifty-50 basket of stocks having thirty six stocks falling and fourteen stocks advancing. In Nifty, NTPC was the top loser with stocks falling over two per cent to close at Rs. 123.20.

Sensex approaches fourth session of gains

Today, the Indian stock markets scaled to reach for a fourth consecutive winning session with energy firms like Reliance Industries gaining after suffering from steep losses in the previous session. Apart from this, the analysts are warning the gains in shares to be restricted ahead of the government’s 2016/17 budget which is due on 29 February 2016.

Skoda Superb hits India showrooms today

Skoda is all set to launch its most anticipated car, the new generation Superb today in India. The 2016 Skoda Superb is equipped with a new design and a range of cosmetic updates. Having made its debut in Prague, the Skoda Superb is gearing up to make its first official appearance into the Indian market. The new Supers comes with a price tag between 22 lakh and 28 lakh(ex-showroom Delhi).

Shatabdi trains to have semi-high speed coaches
The Rail Budget 2016-17 includes a gradual replacement of bogies of Shatabdi Express with the ones that are used in semi-high speed trains. Additionally, there will be state-of-the-art furnishing of coaches along with Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) tagging of linens. Retrofitting of Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches is also slated to feature in the Rail Budget 2016-17.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 set for March 3 launch in India

Today, Xiaomi announced the March 2 launch of its Redmi Note 3 in India. The company would be launching the note at an event scheduled to take place in Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi. This new variant of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 650 SoC along with a fingerprint scanner placed towards the back side of the note.

Bhupathi-Bhambri Wins Delhi Open Doubles Tennis Tournament

Mahesh Bhupati teamed up with Yuki Bhambri to defeat Saketh Myneni-Sanam Singh pair, defending champions, in a three-set duel (6-3, 4-6, 10-5) and win Delhi Open Men’s Doubles tennis tournament. This is the first title win for Bhupati in 3 years time after his return to competitive tennis (absence caused due to a knee injury).  Bhupati’s last major win was in March 2013 when he teamed up with Michael Llodra to win Dubai ATP event.

Indian men Shuttlers storm into Semis of Badminton Asia Team Championships

Indian men shuttlers defeated Malaysian team in the Badminton Asia Team Championships, played in Hyderabad, 3-2 to storm into the semi finals (to play against Indonesia). Indian captain Kidambi Srikanth won the singles against Malaysia’s Zulfadli Zulkiffli 21-14 21-15. Manu Attri-Sumeet Reddy pair defeated Juan Shen Low and Kiang Meng Tan 10-21, 22-20, 21-16 in the first doubles. The deciding singles was won by H S Prannoy against Teck Zhi Soo 21-12, 22-20. India has also qualified for Thomas Cup.

Mumbai beats MP to reach Ranji Trophy final

Mumbai registered an outright victory in their 45th Ranji Trophy semi-final against Madhya Pradesh in Cuttack. Cricketer Aditya Tare is Mumbai team’s captain and is quite excited to play against Saurashtra in Pune on 24 February. This is perhaps Mumbai’s first foray into the final in the last three seasons of Ranji Trophy.

Bengali beauty Bipasha Basu’s alleged boyfriend Karan Singh Grover who was married to Jennifer Winget has now officially been divorced. Karan Singh Grover and Bipasha Basu are rumored to have a love affair and might get engaged in the upcoming months. His divorce formalities are out on the way and it is predicted that the two love birds would announce their wedding any time from now.

Arya Babbar ties the knot with Jasmine Puri

Son of Bollywood actor-turned politician Raj Babbar, actor Aarya Babbar tied the knot with long-time girlfriend Jasmine Puri. An Andheri-based Gurudwara served as the wedding venue with the entire ceremony being an intimate affair attended by close friends and family. Aarya’s friends from Big Boss 8, Upen Patel and Karishma Tanna were also present at the wedding ceremony.

Krishna Raj Kapoor back from hospital

Raj Kapoor’s wife Krishna Raj Kapoor who was being treated at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital for some age-related health issues for around three weeks was discharged from the hospital yesterday and is doing fine. Her complete treatment had her two sons, Randhir and Rishi Kapoor, daughter Rima Jain and daughter-in-law Neetu Kapoor in attendance.

India wins power deal in Bangladesh

State-run Indian firm BHEL (Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd.) is all set to cease a major power deal of building a $ 1.6 billion power plant in Bangladesh. India has defeated China as its competitor in the most recent commercial tussle between the region’s two massive powers. After many long years of negotiations, BHEL will be signing a contract to build a 1,320-megawatt (MW) thermal power station in Khulna in southern Bangladesh on 28 February 2016.

Hyderabad to get water ATMs soon

According to a proposal which was suggested by Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewage Board (HMWS&SB) managing director B Janardhan Reddy, chilled portable water will be sold through kiosks in Hyderabad. This kiosk would be modeled on the lines of cash-dispensing automated teller machines (ATMs) of banks. As per the water board chief, the officials would be working out installation of water ATMs wherein pedestrians can receive one litre of chilled water at a cost of Re 1.

India becomes #1 weapons importer in the world

Accounting for an impressive 14% of global imports, India has topped the list of largest weapons-importing countries in the world. After India, China and Pakistan rank second and fourth with their imports accounting for 4.7% and 3.3% respectively, of the global figure during 2011-15. Russia was indeed the top supplier to India during the five-year period accounting for 70% of the country’s imports.
